Bohemians Rhapsody

Well they were correct about the police at the ground me and my brothers were there with my dad who supports the Irish side. We had a good time at the game and at the end the Irish fans were singing sunny Rhyl and the fans were clapping each other. There was no need at all for the police reaction outside. It just made the Irish fans think they were all a load of thugs. Which was the total opposite of the way the fans from boths side were at the game. Such a shame for visitors to see Rhyl like this.

Great report.
It's good, if unusual, to see press give football fans basic respect.
I don't think Bohs supporters took it to heart: just another massive OTT by a police force that clearly has too much time on its hands and needs to justify its existence.
Best of luck to Rhyl and to Rhyl FC!

I visit Ireland often in order to see my Aunty Anne and Uncle Geoff. Generally the Irish are fun-loving impish people, as long as you avoid Dublin, people from Dublin, and people who have stepped foot in Dublin.

I think the Welsh police may have overreacted but given that the bulk of their time is spent herding leeks, giving the odd naughty sheep a clip round the ear, and trying to resurrect the corpse of Richard Burton (I fully support this effort, he was awesome, did he ever write poetry?), I would surmise that they just went a little mad for this one. Perhaps they wanted to get the riot gear out. I later saw some of them using the riot gear to go rollerblading through the streets of Rhyl. I say fair play to them.

No one got hurt and the only damage done was to a cheeky Irishman who was forced to confront his passport, he was then made to realise it is spelt 'Irish' instead of 'Oirish'. I think he will be Ok after 2-weeks of intensive 'Ferr-arr-pay'.

I hope both races can recover from this set-back and continue to enjoy good relations, with their relations.
